II Meeting of Developers from VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks

The background of the II Meeting of Developers from VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks is related to the conclusions and recommendations from the “Information Technologies to Equity Access” work group, held on the IV Regional Coordination Meeting of the Virtual Health Library, in Salvador, on 19-20 September 2005. It is also related to I Meeting of Developers occurred during the “VI International Congress of Health Technology – Informatica 2007”, in La Habana, Cuba, on 14-16 February 2007.

The general objective of this meeting is to strengthen the social networking among developers from the VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks, promoting the development and innovation on information services and products based on a collaborative way.

The specific objectives are:

1. To promote the continuous development of the interoperability between information sources and flows of the VHL, SciELO and ScienTI network, as well as the accessibility of its interfaces;
2. To support the identification, evaluation and dissemination of the national, regional and international initiatives, which promote the development and innovation of products and information services for VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks;
3. To establish the use and dissemination of standards, processes and tools on collaborative and participative work, based on network, for the developers from VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks;
4. To mobilize people, groups and organizations to participate in the collaborative development of products and information services for VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks.

The results for this meeting are:

1. Presentations on products and information services in operation or development in the VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks;
2. Discussion on products and information services of the VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks, promoting a methodological and technical evaluation based on continuous improvement and innovation according to the global trends;
3. Identification of projects, products and information services, which have high level of interoperability and can be developed collaboratively by developers from VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks;
4. Incorporation of new standards, architecture and technological plaform in the development and innovation processes for products and information services from VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks.

Target public

Professionals from information technology and communication areas involved in the development of the VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks, as well as potencial individuals and organizations who can collaborate in the development and innovation of products and information services for this networks.

Meeting structure

This meeting will be based on round tables to discuss specific themes on development and innovation of the products and information services related to VHL, SciELO and ScienTI networks.

Each round table will have three presentations with one hour of duration, considering fifteen minutes per each and fifteen minutes for tolerance. After the round tables there will be twenty minutes for discussions and between them will have ten minutes for coffe break.

Round tables will also have a moderator who will organize the session work, as well as will promote the discussion between participants.
